#Chapter 164: Make It An Hour
When Beau and I arrive at the hospital, Neil is doing much better than when we last saw him. In fact, he looks better than he has in weeks. He’s not even in bed right now, but walking around the side of it, dragging his IV along.
“Chloe! Beau!” he says as he sees us in the room. He comes closer to us. “It’s good to see you.”
Closer, I can see that some of the dark under his eyes has faded. He’s definitely more rested. And there’s color in his cheeks now too, that I haven’t seen for some time.
He looks good. Vibrant. Alive.
“Where’s Steven?” Beau asks.
“Out with the doctors somewhere,” Neil says. He shakes his head but since he’s smiling, it looks fond. “Probably in the lab again.”
“Again?” I ask. Beau and I haven’t been gone a terribly long time, certainly not long enough for Steven to make himself at home in the hospital’s laboratory. At least… I thought not.
“According to Archer, ever since the two of you left, he’s been spending most of his time there,” Neil says.
Beau nods
