Chapter 648

Hearing the voice, Maeve instinctively wanted to retreat to the cabin, but Liam blocked her way. "Mr. Larson, I'm not feeling well. Can I go back to rest?" Maeve had no desire to deal with Liam. Her message had been sent, and Zion should have noticed by now. Once the ship docked, she would escape Liam's clutches. Liam studied Maeve's expression. His eyes were like deep, inscrutable lakes—calm yet slightly distant, inviting curiosity. Maeve felt a chill under Liam's gaze. When he stepped forward, she immediately stepped back to maintain a safe distance. Maeve lost patience and asked, "Liam, what do you want?" "Go get her some medicine," Liam ordered Tessa without even glancing at her. Reluctantly, Tessa obeyed. She cast a timid glance at Maeve before saying, "Yes, Mr. Larson." As Tessa walked away, Maeve spoke up, "Did you send Tessa away because you have something to say to me alone, Mr. Larson?" Liam took a step closer, and Maeve stepped back with disgust. He raised an eyebrow and stepped closer again. This time, Maeve didn't retreat. "Mr. Larson, are you out of your mind?" "Why didn't you mention you got seasick earlier?" "I told Mr. Hartman. He said I'd get used to it," Maeve lied smoothly. At that moment, Tessa returned from the cabin with the pills. Liam's eyes never left Maeve as he took the pills from Tessa. The next second, he pinched Maeve's cheeks and forced the pills into her mouth. Without any water, the pills went down straight her throat causing her to cough. It made her face flush as the bitter taste spread. After suppressing the urge to gag, Maeve mocked, "Did you come all the way here just to make me take medicine, Mr. Larson?" Liam looked at her coldly and said, "I gave you the medicine so you won't die on my ship." "Really? I thought you were interested in me and cared about me, Mr. Larson." Maeve's intentional words made Liam sneer. "You? Why would I be interested in you?" Liam tightened his grip on Maeve's jaw and tilted her face side to side. "In terms of looks and figure, you're not the best. What makes you think I'd be interested in you?" "Though I'm not the top beauty, it's hard to find someone better than me in Seathburn. Besides, a man's interest in a woman isn't just about looks and body, right?" "Well said." Liam released Maeve and said, "I have different ways to tame a wildcat like you. I look forward to the day you kneel before me and submit." With that, Liam turned and left. Maeve finally breathed a sigh of relief. She would never have been Liam's plaything. Instead, she aimed to be the one toying with him. As the ship had been drifting at sea for three days, Maeve finally realized something was wrong. According to Tessa, they should have arrived in Seathburn today, but all she saw was the vast ocean with no docks or borders in sight. Suddenly, she recalled what Liam had said—they wouldn't be back in two days.
