Chapter 665
How could this be? Maeve's last thought flickered through her mind. Was it Conner's men? Or Liam's? But before she could piece it together, everything went dark.
"Sean, that bodyguard's coming back soon. Should we take care of her here?" Marcus made a snapping gesture with his fingers.
"We can't break the rules. They want Maeve gone without a trace. I say we dump her in the sea." Sean took out his phone and snapped a photo of Maeve, then sent it to Peter, who was in Seathburn City.
"Alright, I'll follow your lead. Let's stick to the plan and wait for the buyer to inspect her before we make a move."
"Take her away!"
Marcus opened a pre-prepared suitcase and placed Maeve inside.
Outside the elevator, Sean and Marcus were visibly tense. This was their first time handling a deal like this, but the thought of the money kept them moving.
The elevator dinged, and a bodyguard stepped out with a takeout bag. He immediately sensed something was off when he saw the two men.
Sean shot the bodyguard a hard look. "What are you staring at?" he snapped before dragging Marcus and the suitcase into the elevator.
The bodyguard frowned. He walked to Maeve's door and knocked. "Ms. Scott?"
There was no answer so he knocked again.
"Ms. Scott?" There was still no response.
This wasn't a good sign! Sensing something was wrong, the bodyguard rushed to Liam's door and knocked urgently.
Liam opened the door with an annoyed expression. He loosened his tie and asked coldly, "Weren't you supposed to be watching Maeve? What's going on?"
"Mr. Larson, I think something's happened to Ms. Scott!"
Liam frowned. He walked to Maeve's door and knocked impatiently. "Maeve, open up!"
"Mr. Larson, I've been knocking for a while now, and there's been no response. Ms. Scott might be in trouble… or she could've run away."
Liam's eyes narrowed dangerously at the thought. No one had ever dared to escape from him. Didn't Maeve know that with just a word, he could find her anywhere in Yewridge?
"Check the surveillance."
"Got it, Mr. Larson!"
In the surveillance room, the manager personally brought the footage to Liam. "This floor is reserved for Ms. Scott and Mr. Larson.
"Mr. Jefferson specifically instructed that all cameras on this floor be turned off during your stay. In the past half hour, there's been no sign of Ms. Scott on any other floors or in the lobby."
"Wait!" The bodyguard pointed to the screen. "Who are those two men?"
The manager glanced at Liam. "Those men should be with Mr. Larson. I saw them talking to him earlier."
Liam stared at the suitcase one of the men was holding and fell deep in thought.
"Mr. Larson, when I came back upstairs with the takeout, I saw those two men. Did you call them up for a meeting?" the bodyguard asked.
No one else was staying on this floor. So, what were those two men doing here?
