Chapter 666
Liam rose and immediately dialed one of his subordinates. "I want the location of those two who reported back to me today—within three minutes!"
…
On the bustling streets of Yewridge, Maeve's body jolted with the car's motion. When she finally opened her eyes, a cold breeze whipped against her, making her shiver involuntarily.
Earlier, when those two men sprayed her, she instinctively held her breath, but a bit of the sedative still got in. Thankfully, she'd woken up quickly enough to start plotting an escape.
As the car rattled along, the sounds of traffic began to fade, signaling that they were moving away from Seathburn City's center.
Before long, Maeve caught a faint scent of salt in the air. Instantly, she was on high alert.
The sea? Why did they bring her to the coast?
She struggled against the ropes binding her hands, but with her eyes covered, she had no idea what was happening inside the car.
Just then, a man's voice broke the tension. "Sean, this should be far enough. Let's stop here."
"She's a real beauty. What a waste," another man remarked.
The car came to a sudden halt, and Maeve forced herself to stay calm as the two men dragged her out.
Her wrists and ankles were tied while her mouth was taped shut, and a blindfold blocked her vision.
Listening to the waves crashing nearby, Maeve guessed they were at Yewridge Pier—the same place she and Liam had visited the night before.
At that moment, Sean's phone rang. Recognizing his boss's number, he quickly answered. "Mr. Glover, what's up?"
"Cut the crap. Where are you right now?"
"I-I just picked up a job, we're at the pier..." Before Sean could finish, the line went dead.
Marcus, who stood nearby, pointed at Sean's phone. "Sean, your phone just died."
Sean glanced at the screen and cursed under his breath. "Damn it!"
He then impatiently shoved the phone back into his pocket.
He turned to Marcus and said, "Let's toss her in the sea. I'll charge my phone later and apologize to Mr. Glover!"
They were going to toss her into the sea? They were really going to kill her? Who was the one behind this? Maeve's mind raced as Sean agreed to the plan.
"Alright!" Sean and Marcus lifted Maeve.
She could feel the sand beneath them as they stepped onto the beach.
Not far away, she heard the sound of a boat approaching. Without warning, Maeve began to struggle with all her strength.
"Sean!"
Caught off guard by her resistance, the two men dropped her onto the sand. Her back hit the ground hard, and she gasped in pain.
Sean angrily kicked her. "You bitch!"
Maeve groaned and pretended to struggle while secretly feeling around in the sand with her bound hands. By luck, she found a shard of a beer bottle.
In the pier area of Seathburn City, broken beer bottles on the beach were hardly surprising.
Marcus said, "Sean, I think she's trying to say something."
"Of course she is!" Sean snapped and smacked Marcus on the head. "Get her in the sack already!"
While they were distracted, Maeve worked furiously to cut through the ropes binding her hands.
Just as Marcus leaned closer, Maeve suddenly headbutted him with all her strength.
