The overwhelming pressure from Maxwell began to ease once Reyna contacted the police. He stayed silent, standing behind her like a reliable source of support.
Reyna turned around only after receiving confirmation from the police that her report had been successfully filed. She raised her chin, a glimmer of light reawakening in her captivating eyes, which now sparkled with a hint of feigned relief.
"I'm not the one who did anything wrong. He and I were in a normal relationship. What's there to hide?"
She might have looked wild in those photos, but it was just out of love for him. Nathan, however, was the one who deserved shame for turning their past love into a weapon.
A flicker of interest seemed to cross Maxwell's eyes.
Reyna thought he might tease her, but instead, he simply said, "You did the right thing."
