Meanwhile, Nathan was stuck at the police station for a full three hours.
Even after pulling every string he could, they still made him go through all the formalities. He was required to sign a mountain of documents and write a letter of assurance before he was finally released.
By the time he stepped out of the station, night had already fallen. His tailored suit was wrinkled, and his hair was messy, making him look disheveled.
Reyna was truly ruthless. He kept replaying their phone call in his head. Her calm and clear voice had been terrifyingly logical. For the first time, he realized he might not have ever really known her.
For the last eight years, she had consistently been gentle, obedient, and charming. He thought of her as a plaything, always returning when he called.
But now, that once delicate toy had developed sharp claws. She had escaped his control and fought back fiercely. The feeling of losing control caused an intense restlessness and unease he had never experience
