Chapter 6
Yes, I was avoiding him. We hadn't really spoken since yesterday when I ran out of his room. Last night he didn't even look at me properly. He just wrapped his arms around me and didn't speak a word. But from the aura around him I think he was still a bit pissed.
That's why I held my breath as his voice became louder and louder. His footsteps stopped right outside the door and I froze, trying my best not to panic. Was he able to smell me?
But then I heard a little moan and my heart dropped as I smelt another female with him. So I was right? Was he really using me yesterday?
When I heard them continue walking I let out a sigh in relief.
"Wow. Never knew you were so good at hiding."
I shrieked in surprise as I heard the voice behind me and turned around hastily. Harry was sitting on his bed, his legs crossed and a book on his lap.
"Sorry," I rushed. "Please don't call Ryder."
His left eyebrow rose. "You call him Ryder? I thought you weren't allowed to do that?" He asked, not angry, but truly curious.
A blush rose to my cheeks and I instantly looked at the floor. "No, Sorry. I was disrespectful. I meant Alpha."
He slammed his book shut and put it aside. "No need to apologize. He isn't even Alpha yet. Care to tell me why you're playing hide 'n seek?" he asked, chuckling slightly. "Although it was rather amusing seeing you pressed against that door, looking like you were caught stealing a cookie."
My blush grew and I shuffled from one foor to another nervously. "I-I was just-" I stuttered, not knowing what to say. Why wasn't he angry?
He stood up and stretched, making his shirt rill up a little. I looked away. Ryder was the only one for me. Plus, I don't think Harry would like it if I looked at him.
"You are going to start preparing dinner right?" He questioned, walking over to me and crossing his arms.
"Yes," I answered.
"Is it okay if I help you?"
I nodded automatically. But then looked up at him with wide eyes. "What? Really? Again?" I asked in bewilderment.
He rolled his eyes. "What? It went okay last time right? It's not like I set the kitchen on fire."
I smiled at him. "You really don't have to help if you don't want to. I'm used to doing it alone."
He shook his head. "No, I really want to help. Plus you don't have that much time," he pointed out.
Sighing, I nodded at him. "Fine. Thank you."
"No problem," he said and swung his arm around my shoulders.
I froze. This was the first time someone besides Ryder was touching me without hurting me. But I didn't push him away. I inhaled deeply and looked up at him. Harry was smiling at me. A real, honest smile. Was he my friend now? My first friend.
I gave him a bright smile and we made our way to the kitchen. Luckily no one saw us. Halfway through dinner preparations I decided to ask him about why everyone was so excited to have the Black Death pack come visit us.
"You don't know?" he exclaimed.
I nodded slowly. "Well, yeah. That is why I'm asking."
He put down his knife and started waving his ams around exaggerated. "How could you not know them? The Black Death pack is like, the strongest and most powerful pack in the world! The Alpha is terrifying!"
"I really don't go outside or talk much to others," I admitted.
Something appeared in his eyes and he looked at the counter. "You know," he said quietly. "I'm really sor-"
"Don't," I interrupted him. "It's okay. I'm just the Omega."
Harry gave me a pointed stare. "That's no true. You're not just-"
"Harry?! Why the hell are you in here? OMG are you cooking?" Bonnie screeched while entering the kitchen, a disgusted expresion on her face.
Harry gave her a pissed off glare. "Yes, I am. What do you want?"
She glared at me before giving Harry a fake smile. "The Alpha wants everyone the come to the hall. Because of the Black Death pack."
"Before dinner?"
She nodded, gave me one last glare and left the room. Harry turned to me and sighed. "We'll finish cooking later. Let's go. The Alpha is a little stressed."
"I know. He screamed a lot louder at me this morning then usual. I think he even spit a little."
Harry laughed and opened the kitchen door. But somehow it smalled shut again, getting his shirt caught behind a screw.
"Fuck," he cursed and tried to pull it out.
"Stop." I held up my hands to stop him. "You'll rip it. Just pull when I tell you to," I told him and twisted the screw. "Pull."
He pulled his shirt out and smiled in relief when it didn't rip. "Thank you. How did you know that?"
I shrugged. "That damn screw ripped my shirt quite a few times."
He nodded and grabbed my hand. "Come on, before we get scolded."
We practically ran to the hall and pushed the door open. Apparently the pack was already there. We were the last ones to arrive. So when the doors opened every head turned towards us. I shifted behind Harry and grew pale when I saw Ryder glaring at us from the stage. I gulped when I remembered his command and immediately let go of Harrys hand.
Shit. I was so screwed.
Harry coughed. "My apologies. My shirt was stuck and Pamelia was helping me."
Half of the pack looked confused. Probably not knowing Pamelia was me. I looked down at the floor, ashamed.
Harry slapped me on the shoulder and then jogged up to the stage. The Alpha gave him an annoyed stare before clearing his throat, getting everyones attention.
I still felt Ryder’s burning glare and didn't dare to look up. The Alpha started giving his speech but I was to distracted by my mate to pay attention to hem. After what felt like hours the pack cheered and applauded. Not knowing why I started clapping timidly.
Then the pack members slowly started to leave the room. I was about to follow after them but the Alpha had other plans.
"Omega," he called.
I swallowed nervously and slowly made my way to the stage. "Yes, Alpha?" I asked once I got there.
Both Ryder and Harry were now starring at me. "You will attend to our guest every need and comfort. Understood? But do not bother them or get in their way. I swear I will kill you if you screw up."
I gulped and quickly nodded. "Yes Alpha. I understand."
"You're dismissed," he said waving his hand.
I nodded once more and turned around. Making my way out off the hall as quickly as possible. I barely made it to the kitchen when I felt him grab my arm and pull me into the room and locking the door.
"Did you think you could get away with disobeying me?" Ryder hissed, his grip on my arm tightening. His eyes were completely black and his jaw clenched.
