Then, Amy tried to play the victim.
In an attempt to look understanding, she asked in an upset tone, "Do you not want the nurses to misunderstand the situation? If this is bothering you, I can go out there and tell everyone we're not actually your wife and daughter…"
Then, she acted as if she was about to cry and slowly made her way toward the door. Not to her surprise, Liam stopped her almost immediately.
"You don't have to do that," he said.
Amy smiled. She looked extremely pleased.
She knew Liam inside out. The latter didn't like to draw too much attention to himself. At this point, clarifying the situation or clearing up the misunderstanding would only embarrass him even further.
