3 Secret

“Liam I would like to introduce you to Miss Ava. She is Jenna’s niece.” Mrs Susan said to her son. As she spoke those words, Ava’s eyes narrowed to the man to see he was staring at her. She quickly looked away. “This is the woman I spoke about arranging a marriage with you. You would be getting married to Miss Ava.” Mrs Susan said to see her son widen his eyes. “Never!” He stood up. “I am not going to marry her!” Hearing him, Ava felt her heart beat normal. She support him on this one and not her Aunt. She was not going to marry someone like him. “Me too.” Ava whispered to herself. The words were not loud enough for Mrs Susan to hear. “Son I will explain everything to you later but not now. You are going to marry her, please.” Mrs Susan said. Without saying a word, Liam stood up from the couch and walked upstairs. “Now that he is not interested in marrying my niece, what are we going to do?” Jenna asked. “If he doesn’t agree to marry her then I can’t give you the money you are asking of.” Mrs Susan replied. “We will think of another plan.” Jenna said and Ava wondered how much the money is that was making her sell her out for marriage. To someone she wasn’t in love with. “Possibly she can come as your daughter’s nanny.” Jenna said. Ava glared at her Aunt as she thought the woman had forgot to carry her brain along with her to the Mansion. Her Aunt wanted her to please a man by coming as a nanny? This woman was not serious right now! “Alright, that’s a good idea. She should begin working from tomorrow.” Susan said. “Thank you, Mrs Susan. We would be leaving now.” Jenna stood up and Ava followed her outside. “Why did you do that?” Ava asked. “Do what?” Jenna feigned confusion and Ava rolled her eyes. “Ohh please drop the act. You know what you did. Why did you bring me here for marriage when you know I am not interested in it?” Ava was beyond angry right now. She could not control herself anymore. “Ava.” Jenna turned around and placed both hands on Ava’s shoulder. “I did what I had to because I can not give out the house to our debtors.” “Mr. James came to the house this morning when you was away and he almost embarrassed. I would be giving the car out for them tomorrow but the house I can’t. Ava where would I stay if they take the house from us?” Jenna asked and Ava felt emotional right now. When her parents died, it was only her Aunt who had spoke on taking her in. Her other relatives abandoned her in the hospital as none of them were wishing to take Ava in. “You can forget about love and marry him. He is rich and would give you anything you ask for in a golden spoon. Don’t you want that asked of life?” Jenna asked. Ava had dreamt of having a simple life. Getting married to someone she loved and then living in a small apartment at the country side. Having kids and been able to take care of them. That’s all she planned for but not at this age when she was still thinking about life. “Okay. I would marry him on one condition.” Ava said. “What do you want?” Jenna questioned. “Please don’t release the car to anyone. I would fight hard to get Liam to like me and then Mrs Susan would give you enough money to take care of the debts.” She replied. “Thank you Ava.” Jenna pulled her into a tight hug. “I feel hungry now.” Ava said as she hadn’t eaten anything since morning. “There is food for us when we get home. I will ask the maid’s to serve for you.” Jenna said and they went inside the car. When they arrived at the house, they walked inside the dining room and sat down. “So when would I start working there?” Ava asked. “From tomorrow morning.” Her Aunt replied. “It is just for a short period of time to draw Liam’s attention. Once he falls in love with you, we would be free of our debtors.” “Thank you Ava.” Her Aunt pulled her into a tight hug. The next morning when Ava had finished dressing up, she walked towards Jenna who was standing near the mirror. “Wish me well, Aunt.” Ava demanded from her. “I wish you good luck and I hope he agrees to marry you soon.” Jenna said. She escorted Ava outside the house to where the car was parked. The chauffeur opened the door for her and she sat down inside. When the car reached the Mansion, Ava pushed the door without waiting for the chauffeur. The butler showed her to the little Miss room and Ava had to knock first and wait for the girl to tell her to go in before opening the door. “Come in.” She heard the girl’s voice and Ava pushed the door opened. She didn’t know where she was to start from now that she was working as a nanny. She didn’t have any experience in this kind of job. “You must be the nanny my mother assigned for me.” The girl said. Aha nodded her head and walked towards the chair to sit down. “Yes I am. What is your name?” “My name is Lucy.” She replied and Ava smiled. “You have a violin.” Her eyes moved to the musical instrument near the bed. She was surprised at how a young girl like Lucy would be able to play the violin. “Yes. Do you want me to play it for you?” Lucy asked. Ava was about to open her mouth and say yes when the door pushed open. Her head snapped to the direction to see Liam who was standing there. “Aren’t you a little too desperate to get near me? A little girl like you.” She heard him speak and she gritted her teeth. “What a pack of shame in one man.” Ava hummed. “You are the one with no shame.” Liam retorted. “Ohh really?” She turned around to look at him clearly. “You forgot how you—” Ava paused when her eyes moved to the little child sitting on the bed and she composed herself before going to sit near the girl. “Is my brother disturbing you?” The little girl asked. “Ohh yes. Send him out.” Ava said, hoping the girl would send him out of the room. “I am leaving already.” Liam opened the doors and he walked outside to see his mother who was scolding a maid. “Mom?” Liam took a step forward. “I need to have a conversation with you.” “About what?” The woman asked. “Why do you want me to marry that little girl?” Liam asked. “Ava?” The woman asked to receive a nod. “Yes. You know things would get complicated soon and people will find out about our little secret.” Liam replied. Mrs Susan nodded her head in understanding and she turned to her son. “I know. That is why I asked you to marry her. You see they will come for Lucy soon and i don’t want anything to happen to my child. She is the only one I have after your father died. I chose for you to marry Ava because she doesn’t come from a really wealthy family. If people finds out that she is missing, we would be able to set things for ourselves.”
