“Grandma, that wasn’t what I meant,” Cassandra said, her tone calm and collected.
She pulled out a bank card from her bag, walked over to Alexander, and handed it to him. “Grandpa, there’s thirty million on this card. I made it trading stocks recently—kinda on a whim. Originally, I didn't plan on using it. But earlier at the auction, I saw something I really liked, and in a rush of excitement, I didn’t get the chance to discuss it with Grandma before bidding. I do feel bad about that, and I’ll try to work on not acting so impulsively. Anyway, it’s not like I need the money now, so I’ll let you decide what to do with it.”
Basically, Evelyn had just accused her of spending the family’s money without notice—now, this felt like getting slapped in the face.
The moment those words left Cassandra’s mouth, everyone's expressions shifted.
Especially Evelyn, who looked like she’d just swallowed something nasty and couldn’t get it out—her face was a mix of frustration and bitterness.
