The sky was gloomy the whole morning, like rain was just waiting for the perfect time to fall.
Lilah muttered "Great, just my luck" under her breath as she saw Violet walking toward her. Still, she kept her cool and looked calm on the outside.
"Ms. Hart, what a coincidence. Didn't expect to see you here," Violet said, her tone laced with fake surprise.
Clearly used to being worshipped by others, Violet always had that condescending look whenever she talked. Just like now—she looked at Lilah like she was beneath her, chin lifted high like she was above it all.
"This is my family's hospital, Miss Hughes. It's not exactly shocking that I'd show up here," Lilah replied lazily. She wore a casual long-sleeve tracksuit, clearly unbothered by the chill in the air, and stuck her hands in her pockets as she spoke.
