Chapter 93
Robert was ecstatic to hear this and immediately asked Travis to follow him to Aidan’s study. Robert knocked on the door and started, “Second Young Master, Master Witton…”
Travis pushed the door open and barged into Aidan’s study before Robert could even finish his sentence. Aidan looked up at Travis and frowned, “What are you doing here?” he asked. Instead of replying to him, Travis took out his mobile phone, clicked on a video and put in in front of Aidan. “See it for yourself.” he stated curtly.
The video showed Evan’s nanny being tied to a chair - her head was hung as she choked out, “I heard Miss Collin mention that the Little Master was actually Miss Harvey’s son when she was talking to the Second Young Master...I decided to do something to him since Miss Harvey had crossed me in the past...Master Witton, you’ve got to believe me, I really thought that she would just get a scare...I didn’t think that she would fail to save the Little Master…”
“Liar!” Travis’ voice boomed from behind the camera. “It took us at least five minutes to get to where they’d been when you came over to get us for help - Evan had already died by then, while Eliana had been rescued. This shows that they hadn’t entered the water at the same time.”
The video then showed Travis approaching the nanny and grabbing her threateningly by the hair, “It’s quite clear that you’d held Eliana back so that she couldn’t save Evan in time.”
The nanny appeared flustered and tongue-tied - in the end, there was nothing else that she could do but to beg for mercy, “I...I...Master Witton, please, spare my life…”
“Who told you to do that?” Travis demanded furiously. “No one, no one, Master Witton!” The nanny croaked out, “It’s just that I had a bone to pick with Miss Harvey...that’s why I tried to get her into hot soup by using the Little Master against her…”
Travis took back his phone as soon as the video was done playing - there was a solemn look on Aidan’s face. He was clenching his fists so tightly that his knuckles were turning white. “I came by that day to tell you what I’d found by the lake,” Travis suddenly said - he then played another video in his gallery and showed it to Aidan.
“Look at how the flowers are pressed down slightly, as though someone had been lying on them whilst putting up a struggle,” Travis pointed out, “Eliana told me that two men had apprehended and held her down at this very area. This was why she’d been prevented from being to save Evan as soon as he’d entered the water.”
Travis’ words made Aidan frown - he was extremely confused and muddle-headed at this very moment. Could it be...that he’d wrongly accused Eliana? Aidan clenched his fists as he thought about the torture that he’d subjected Eliana to over the past few days - his heart tightened as he felt extremely conflicted and dismayed.
“One more thing,” Travis said as he placed his hands down onto Aidan’s study table, “I’d like it to make it clear to you that I don’t have any feelings for Eliana.” Aidan raised his brows at his friend at this. “The reason why I’m interfering in your affairs again and again is because I really don’t want you to do something that you’ll regret,” Travis explained, “I just hope that it’ll end well for the two of you.”
Aidan couldn’t help but turn solemn at this - was it really possible for him and Eliana to reconcile? Even if the incident with Evan hadn’t happened, Aidan and Eliana were still more than oceans and mountains apart - it was simply way to hard for them to go back to how they were before.
“Alright, my job here is done,” Travis sighed, “It’s your move, Aidan - you decide what you want to do next. I won’t interfere anymore,” he then added, “And about the nanny - I’ve already had someone send her to the police station.” He then glanced at his watch and informed, “Alright, I’ve got to go - I have an operation in half an hour’s time. Think about what you want to do.” Travis left as soon as he was done speaking.
Aidan stared blankly at the Rubik’s Cube on his desk as soon as Travis was gone - the atmosphere was tenser and heavier than usual. After about half an hour, he stood up and announced, “Robert, get a car ready - I’m going to the Wonderland Clubhouse right now.”
…
When Eliana regained consciousness, she felt someone tugging at her clothes - she squinted slightly to see who the blurry figure was. To her horror, Frank’s disgusting and greasy old face was right in front of her - he smirked evilly as soon as he noticed that Eliana had woken up, “You’ve woken up just in time,” he sneered, “Just in time for some good fun…”
