Everyone inside the house panicked and tried to rush out, but the flames were too intense. The searing heat was like an impenetrable wall-completely overwhelming-leaving them no way to escape.
Outside, Sabrina stepped out from the shadows as flames raged into the sky. She tilted her head and asked, "Have the nearby houses been secured?"
Matthew nodded. "Yeah, the village chief got all the young guys together. They've dug trenches to keep the fire from spreading."
