Chapter 583

"Do you understand what family means to me?" Mayra asked, knowing that her words meant nothing to Anderson. "You can have anyone you want, so you don't understand." Her final hope toward Anderson was lost, and she could no longer expect anything from him. Lowering her gaze, she caved. "I'll consider going to the Sawyer residence." "You can stay here while you consider. Take as long as you wish. There are spare rooms here that you can use." She felt her energy draining from the pain in her chest. "No thanks. I don't want to stay here," she blurted out, not even knowing what she was saying. She turned around and left, paying no mind to how Anderson was looking at her. Anderson said, "Shane, give her a ride." "No thanks. I'll get a cab," she said calmly after turning around. She didn't notice the gaze that followed her as she left. As she stepped out of the Barlow mansion, Anderson's gaze darkened. Shane seemed worried. "It may snow later. Should we get someone to follow her?" "This is her own choice. Forget it." Anderson looked away and walked over to the wine cabinet. Shane followed closely behind. "Mr. Barlow, are you really going to give Ms. Sadler to the Sawyer family?" Anderson opened a bottle of wine and poured himself a glass. The crimson liquid poured into the glass, its color bright and vibrant. "I gave her a chance. She now has two choices—to return to the Barlow mansion or to go to the Sawyer residence. If she isn't willing to stay in the Barlow mansion, it would mean that she has no feelings toward me at all. "I've raised her for over a decade, and if she doesn't know what the right choice is, it would simply mean that I've raised a traitor." "But…" Shane was instantly rendered speechless. "Do you want to say what's on your mind?" Anderson took a sip of wine. Shane could sense that Andrson was displeased. If he was reluctant to let Mayra go to the Sawyer residence, why would he put in so much effort to push her away? "This is just my guess. Ms. Nancy will be discharged today, and Mrs. Barlow will bring her here. I think it's right to send Ms. Sadler away as you only need one sister." If Mayra was truly that important to Anderson, he wouldn't force her to make a choice by making her feel guilty on this day, hoping to manipulate her into going to the Sawyer residence. As Mayra had guessed, Anderson was indeed the person who summoned those relatives from Graycott. Seventy grand didn't mean much to the Barlow family, but it was a debt that Mayra could never repay. "Mr. Barlow, you've just been discharged. You can't drink." … Snowflakes landed on Mayra. After some time passed, Mayra found herself too exhausted to keep walking. She crouched by the side of the road and ignored the snowflakes landing all over her body.
