Chapter 584
She curled into a ball and trembled as she sobbed.
In the distance, a black car approached.
Inside the car, Nancy sat while wearing a wig and gazed outside the window. Her eyes were filled with confusion toward the outside world.
She had been unconscious for almost 12 years, and this was the first snowfall she had seen ever since waking up.
"Is Anderson approachable? What if he doesn't like me?"
Isabel held her hand and tapped on it. "Don't worry, he just looks scary. You're the one person he has cared the most about all these years. He'd go to the hospital to see you every year and keep himself updated on your condition. No one wishes for your recovery more than he does."
Nancy had no memories of the past at all, even regarding the fire.
"Isabel, is that a person?" Nancy asked.
Isabel turned to the direction Nancy mentioned and saw a black motorcycle racing by.
The rumbling of its engine startled both of them.
Isabel heard a familiar voice, and her gaze darkened.
Why was Mayra there?
Brandon stopped the motorcycle and took off his helmet in one smooth motion. When he saw the girl crying while crouching on the ground, he glanced away in frustration but eventually returned to her again.
He crouched and asked, "Did he bully you?"
Hearing his voice, Mayra looked up, and her tearful look struck him.
Seeing her tears fall, Brandon panicked. "Damn it, why are you crying? Speak!"
He took off his gloves and frantically tried to wipe away her tears.
"Forget it. Let's talk about this later." Brandon put his helmet on Mayra and pulled down the shield to cover those teary eyes. He then lifted her and put her onto the motorbike.
Mayra couldn't register what was happening when she was set on the motorbike. By the time she snapped out of it, Brandon had already grabbed her hands and placed them around his waist before racing off.
He sent her home and then hurried back to the Sawyer residence.
The family doctor was performing a routine body check on Camilla. When she headed downstairs, Brandon kicked a vase down.
"Do you not understand English? I told you to leave me alone."
The shattering of the vase startled everyone there except Camilla.
She remained calm and waved her hand to dismiss the maids before walking over to Brandon. "Child, what's wrong?"
He stared at her with bloodshot eyes. "Who told you to adopt Mayra?"
When he thought back to the way Mayra was crying, he couldn't control the rage within him and desperately wanted to tear his mother apart. However, he managed to suppress the urge.
Camilla wasn't afraid of him and stared at him with sorrow. "Brandon, let me explain this to you."
Camilla married Gregory because it was a political marriage arranged by both their families. Her family was powerful as well, and she had seen countless schemes in the political world.
She was careful. Had it not been for her caution, she wouldn't be capable of keeping Gregory's mistresses in check.
No matter how many mistresses he had, no one dared to confront her or cause trouble for her.
