Claire's POV I quickly asked, "Mom, what happened? Don't scare me." "You'll find out when you get here. It's urgent." Mom hung up. Her voice carried strong anger. "What's going on?" Joey asked. I put on my coat while explaining, "My mom wants me to come home right away. You can finish unpacking on your own. I'm borrowing your car." After a few hours of driving, I arrived at my mother's house. As soon as I walked in, I could tell something was wrong with the atmosphere. Mom was sitting on the sofa, her expression extremely serious. I walked over to her side, "Mom, who made you angry?" Susan looked up at me, "What happened to your eyes?" "Oh, nothing. Just didn't sleep well last night," I touched my eyes, trying to brush it off. "No, they're clearly swollen from crying. Tell me what happened," Susan insisted.
