Chapter 47
Claire's POV
Three days. Three whole days without a word from Lucius. I tried not to care, but I found myself checking my phone more often than I'd like to admit.
On the third day, I finally caved and sent him a message, "Just checking in. How's England?" Simple, casual. Nothing that screamed "I miss you" or anything embarrassing like that.
No reply. Not even those annoying little read receipts showing he'd seen it. I tossed my phone onto the couch with a huff. He was probably just busy with important pack business. Or maybe he was purposely ignoring me. Either way, I had better things to do than wait for a text from my contract husband.
"Stop thinking about him," I muttered to myself as I went back to organizing the new decorative pillows on the living room sofa.
Fortunately, I stayed busy with the house renovations. Every day was filled with deliveries, workers coming in and out, and me making decisions about colors and fabrics. The activity kept my mind occupied during the day.
