Claire's POV
Joey walked with me to a taxi, and we quickly disappeared into the busy traffic.
"I feel terrible. I just wanted you to have some fun, but I made things worse instead," Joey said, her voice heavy with guilt.
"It's not your fault," I replied with a weary sigh, watching the city blur past my window.
"That's complete nonsense! I should have walked right over there and given that woman a piece of my mind!" Joey exploded, her face flushed with rage.
I stayed silent.
Normally, I would have marched over there and caused a scene. We weren't even divorced yet, but there they were, picking out rings like some perfect couple planning their future.
