Chapter 49
Camilla's Pov
Blood soaked my jacket. Not mine. I wasn't done yet.
The sound of wet breath escaping his lungs as if he knew he was going to hell was audible as I stepped over a twitching body.
Sweat and gunpowder filled the hallway.
I continued to walk.
They believed I wouldn't return. They believed that denying me access to everything my father had built would keep me afraid.
However, I no longer felt afraid.
Slowly and steadily, my heels reverberated across the tile, as if I had endless time to reclaim what was rightfully mine.
A door ahead slammed. The muffled voices echoed.
"She's inside the structure."
"She won't get past the hallway."
"Dude, she shot Diego in the face."
"Whether or not she is Satan doesn't matter to me. Light her up.
I opened the door with a kick.
The gunfire burst forth.
Bullets rained down on me like metal rain as I rolled behind a marble pillar and dove sideways. My heart was beating so loudly that it felt as if the floor was trembling.
Breathe and think.
