Chapter 59
Camilla’s pov
Darkness did not exist only outside. It now resided within me, infiltrating my everyday existence. Sitting heavy on my chest, I sensed it as a cold weight. I ignored my desire to push it away.
Hands shaking, I walked to the room.
What am I growing to be?
A monster?
Not yes. Not at all a monster. Simply someone weary of being weak. This is someone who is prepared to do whatever it takes.
Alejandro came in, eyes fixed on me.
"You alright??"
I nodded back.
Does it look like I'm good?
He gave no response.
I detested his worried demeanor. He seemed incapable of repairing my disintegration.
"I can manage this," I said, my voice more cutting than I intended.
Allow me to assist.
"Nobody assists anymore." That's not the case anymore.
Later, I sat facing the wall with hands encircling a cup of cold coffee.
They all believe I am robust. They fail to see the fissures.
