Chapter 61
Alejandro's pov
I leaned against the balcony railing, feeling constricted in my chest. Tonight's breeze was hot and heavy, as if it sensed impending danger. The city continued to move beneath me as usual, but something wasn't quite right. This evening was different.
There was a problem.
In the penthouse, I could hear Camila pacing behind me. She walked quickly and sharply, her heels clicking against the marble floor. She remained silent. She was not required to.
I pivoted.
"You sense it, don't you?" I inquired.
Arms crossed tightly, she paused. "Like an impending storm."
I gave a nod. "Or a creature poised to emerge from the shadows."
The floor beneath us shook from the force of the explosion.
I didn't think twice. Snatching up my gun, I pushed the door open and went up the stairs two at a time. I had Camila right behind me. I could already see the glow illuminating the night sky by the time we arrived at the garage.
