Chapter 86
ALEJANDRO’s pov
The warehouse was too quiet. With my heart thumping in my chest, I bent down behind a stack of containers. Although the DEA had scheduled this sweep for weeks, something seemed strange.
Suddenly there was gunfire. Bullets whizzed past me, splitting the wood all around. I hit one of the cartel members returning fire. The anarchy was almost unbearable.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my side. I dropped to find blood seeping through my blouse. No one had shot me.
Stumbling back, I held my wound. I had to leave there.
With each movement sending waves of suffering across my body, I crawled toward the exit. The DEA agents were yelling, and I could hear more gunfire.
I made it outdoors, the cool evening air kissing Leaning against the wall for support, I staggered into the alley.
I had to choose somewhere to hide and heal my hurt. They would find me; I could not visit a hospital.
