Chapter 31
Bewildered, I turned back, only to see Lucas suddenly jump to his feet.
"It would be great if you were truly dead. Don't ever come back again!"
After venting, he returned to the bedroom. I remained in the living room, staring at the spot he had just sat in. My confusion slowly faded as I berated myself for overthinking it.
There was no way Lucas had been showing just the slightest hint of concern for me. How could I still delude myself into thinking that when I was already dead?
I shook my head as I chastised myself. "Oh, Joanne, even after your death, you still don't change. Why are you still hoping for their love? It's no longer important anyway."
Right now, I should be praying that the police would quickly find the rest of my body and catch my murderer to put him behind bars. That way, I could likely finally leave this world in peace. Hopefully, I wouldn't be reborn as a human again.
The only regret I would have would be for Nancy and Gabriel. I hoped they wouldn't be overwhel
