Nancy said, "You just don't get it. You just don't. Forget it. I've apparently wasted my time worrying about it. It seems that I raised my son and grandson for nothing.
"But I have to warn you, Lucas. Roxanne is not the woman for you. She's more cunning than you are. You just can't outsmart her.
"That's all I have to say. Since you brought me all the way out here, this will be my new home. You can leave now."
Lucas left, hesitation written all over his face. Once he was sure that she wouldn't throw a fit, he exited the room and immediately called a staff member over.
