Chapter 41
The bruise Thaelia's teeth had left the night before had long since faded, leaving him fairly disappointed as he saw a glimpse of his neck in the window. He often took enjoyment in his rapid healing abilities but now despised them.
He had spent his night awake for the most part, running the pads of his fingers over the indentations until they faded. As he continued to touch the area throughout the hours in which he should have been asleep, he could feel the dull ache of the bruising as he prodded at it. Thaelia was mortified and refused to make eye contact with him. He knew she was embarrassed by her actions, for she didn't not under them, but he couldn't help but grin every time he looked at them or touched them. He also tried several times to reassure her that what she did was just natural instinct but she didn't respond to his advances. Rather, she blankly stared passed his head or at the ground as he spoke, her face bright red, which he found both endearing and amusing
