Chapter 81
After breakfast, her waist was sore and her stomach ached, so she obediently went back to bed for a nap. Last night, she'd stayed tense pretending to sleep because of Matthew.
Half-asleep, she felt a sudden warmth on her stomach. When she opened her eyes, she saw Matthew holding a sealed glass tumbler filled with hot water, pressing it gently to her abdomen.
The warmth seeped into her heart too. A little touched, she looked at him and said sincerely, "Thanks."
"No need. I just don’t want to look at someone half-dead all day—it’s bad for the mood," Matthew replied coldly, then went straight to his computer.
Seriously? Could he be more sarcastic? Clearly he cared but just had to act like a jerk. What kind of personality combo is that?
Serena rolled her eyes inwardly while hugging the glass cup, turned over, and settled back into bed. Her thoughts slowly drifted.
Besides Dylan, Matthew was probably the only other guy who'd made her feel this kind of warmth.
