Chapter 7
Aurora
Alpha Xavier placed his hand on my waist and I jerked forward, feeling nervous as he glanced at me.
He was awkwardly close and his scent made it impossible to take notice of the other scent around.
Maids gave way as we walked towards the pack hall. I was dressed in a long tight black gown with diamond earrings and necklace, my hair was packed in a bun.
My heart was pounding heavily as we walked into the room and everyone's attention turned to us. I felt like digging a hole and entering the ground as my hands trembled slightly.
“Don’t blow our cover, Aurora… Get a hold of yourself, remember there are other alphas here and we feed on fear.” He whispered and I nodded, feigning a smile.
“I’m okay.” It was hard to tell whether I was trying to convince him or myself but I inhaled repeatedly and slowly let myself relax in his arms.
Walking inside, the hall erupted with murmurs as they watched us closely. Louis was the first to come over with a smile.
“Congratulations, Alpha.” He shook hands with Xavier who smiled.
“I dropped a little gift in your room, I hope you like it.” He said as he turned to me and a smile appeared on my lips.
“Wow… Thank you so much.”
“I want your goldmine as my gift.”
“Even with a sword to my throat, you’re never getting it.” He replied with a glare.
“Congratulations, Alpha. Where did you find such a priceless jewel?” A middle aged man muttered as he walked over with a faint smile, from his regal attire, it was easy to tell he was an alpha.
“Thank you so much, I don’t know, she just walked into my territory and as the wise alpha, I knew it’d be foolish of me to let her go.” He replied and the other man nodded.
“You made the right decision… I wish you happiness.” He announced and walked away while more alphas walked over, shaking hands and congratulating us.
It was a very tiring process but I forced myself to focus on it. It was my new role now and the goddess knew I was going to play my role well.
“Are you hungry honey? You can go over to the buffet while I discuss a few things with Doctor Wayne here.”
He muttered and my heartbeat accelerated as my hands began trembling.
“Congratulations, being Luna looks nice on you.” He muttered and I forced a smile, nodding without a word as my stomach clenched.
“I… I think I’ll go grab a drink.” I stuttered after staring at him for a long time and he nodded.
“Oh wow, I’m heading that way, how about I accompany you…” I wanted to protest but he glared at me, making me smile faintly at Alpha Xavier before I slowly excused myself.
“You better not blow your cover… Smile and act right, if the Alpha notices a slight change I’m going to skin you alive.” He threatened and I nodded, gulping down saliva nervously.
“Good, now enjoy your new position. Hundreds of girls would die for it, look at your sister, Stella… She had been devastated ever since she heard the news.” He muttered and I nodded again.
He smiled at me before walking away and I wobbled towards the table. I grabbed a champagne and drank it hastily, trying to gather myself together as my hands shook with fear.
“You can do this… Take a look at the bright side, everything will be okay… breathe… breathe Aurora, you’ll never get caught, Doctor Wayne is in charge and everything will be taken care of… You can do this…” I whispered and I heard a scowl beside me.
“Oh please… You can’t do nothing… You’re not worthy of being in this place, you’re nothing but an omega who should be serving drinks at this party!” She growled and I scoffed, turning to face her.
“Watch your words…”
“No! What are you gonna do? Do you think marrying the alpha has made you above me? You’re still beneath me, you’ll forever be there.” She replied and I fisted my hands, staring at her with anger.
“Do you think the Alpha wants you? Oh please, do not flatter yourself. You’re nothing but a temporary option, we both know the Alpha is going to abandon you very soon and do you know the beautiful thing about it? When he does, not even the guards would want you because nobody would dare go for a woman who has been abandoned by the Alpha… You will be reduced to an omega and everybody will see the filthy rag which you are.” She spat out and a nerve snapped inside of me.
I was tired of hearing and taking every shit from her, goddess knew where the bravery came from because it certainly wasn’t the real me.
“Watch your tongue, Stella! Do not make me throw you out of this party!” I thundered, making everyone turn to us in astonishment.
“How dare you! Do you know who I am!” She barked and I scoffed.
“Yes! You’re Stella, the daughter of the beta, do you know who I am!” I thundered and she rolled her eyes.
“You are an omega, nothing but dirt…”
“This is where you are wrong, I used to be an omega but not anymore… The tables have turned, Stella. Look in the mirror and see who the weak one is now.” I whispered calmly.
