Chapter 6

Serena Cesantio I looked at the mirror to check if I still have makeup left on my face. I wiped my face one more time with my makeup remover wipes to make sure that no makeup still attach there. I walked to the toilet and washed up my face. I walked back to my waiting room to change my clothes into a dress because I have an event with my family tonight. I put on a short black halter dress and then I put my new set of makeup on. I hate the weird makeup for the runway earlier so I just decided to erase it and redo it. I put my makeup on and put my high heels on. I sprayed some perfumes on my body and took my clutch with me again. I walked out to the lobby and got into the car. I told my chauffeur to stop at my favorite bakery for a moment because I'm so hungry. I checked my phone and found my mom sent me a pic of that Gabriel guy. Well.. he's quite good looking, better than I expected. "Ms. Cesantio, we're here. What kind of bread do you wa-" "No, I will buy it myself. Thank you." I smiled and got out of the car. I walked inside the bakery and yes.. they greeted me with that warm and yummy smell. My eyes widen when I see all those beautiful breads and cookies. "Cream cheese is the newest menu here." I turned to see a good looking man around my brother's age pointing at the bread in front of me. "Really?" I asked and he nodded. I took the cream cheese and then looked for my favorite which is the dark chocolate croissant. I found it and when I was going to take it.. the man reached it too. I looked at the last dark chocolate croissant with a sad face. "You can have it." I said to him and walked over to the cashier. "No.. you can have it." He said as he put it on my tray. I looked at him and automatically smile. "Thanks." "You are welcome." I said and I told the cashier to paid for his bread too. "Thankyou so much.. uhmm." "It's Darren." He said and I nodded. "Thankyou, Darren." I said and when he walked to the cashier, I walked out quickly and get into the car before he could protest that I paid for his bread. I looked at my dark chocolate croissant happily and ate it slowly. Man.. I was damn hungry. I enjoyed my bread until I arrived at the event. My chauffeur opened the door for me and I walked inside. I saw Kiera already waiting for me outside the ballroom. I walked inside with her and I sat beside her. "So.. what are they doing now?" I whispered to her. "They will let us know about their project and then they will ask us to volunteer later." Yes, it's an event where we gather to help people or you can say it as charity but this year they have a volunteer section where we can volunteer anywhere in the world to help people for around a month. I listened to the event quite well and I quite understand that they want us to help them by building homes for the poor, provide food and water for people who need it and others. "Serena honey.. can I talk to you outside for a sec?" My mom suddenly came to me and I nodded. I got up and followed her out. "What's wrong mom?" "Serena.. I want you to meet Da-" "Darren." I said and my mom's eyes widened. "You know him?" She asked. I turned to Darren and he chuckled. "We met around 30 minutes ago inside a bakery shop. He gave me my favorite dark chocolate croissant." I said and Darren chuckled. "So.. what's the deal mom?" "Well apparently.. I'm Gabriel's brother." I raised my eyebrows when he said that. "Yes, I know we promised you to introduce you to Gabriel but he suddenly has to go to Africa for 2 months or maybe more and he already has a girlfriend. So I decided to introduce you to his little brother." "Darren Loxey, nice to meet you, Serena." He said as he put his hand in front of me. "Nice to meet you too." "Thankyou for the bread too." He said smiling and I chuckled. "Well.. you two can go out and spend the night." My mom said and I nodded. She left us and I turned to Darren. "You know.. if your parents forced you into this or maybe you hate the idea.. feel free to back away because I don't want to fo-" "Hey.. it's okay. I'm good besides who doesn't want to spend time with a beautiful girl." He said and I looked at him suspiciously. "Did you do that on purpose earlier?" I asked. "What?" He asked completely confuse. "My croissant." "Trust me.. I have no idea that the girl that my parents will introduce is freaking Serena Cesantio. For the croissant.. you are welcome." He smirked and I laughed. Well.. that's quite a good first impression. "So.. where to go?" I asked. "Hungry? I know a good pizza place around here." He said and I nodded. He suddenly put his hand in front of me gesturing me to hold it. "Wow.. taking a fast pace now?" "What a great instinct you got there." He said and I smiled widely. I know that second that we will get along just right. I took his hand and we walked out to the lobby to wait for his car. "You don't have an allergy to pizza right?" He asked. "If I have one, I don't mind dying with a pizza inside my throat." I said flatly and he laughed. "Nice answer." "How about you?" "I will eat it until my last breath." He said dramatically and I laughed. "Well.. I thought this was a circus for a second." We both stopped laughing and turned our heads to where the voice came from. "Quite a gentleman.. leaving his date alone with her dress stuck to the car." I said when I noticed his date. He shrugged and walked into the building. I ran down and helped the girl. "You okay?" "Yes, thankyou." She said and then she ran inside. "Well.. that's quite a drama." Darren said and I agreed.
