Chapter 2

Irene’s POV “Irene, you have nowhere to go… You- you need me,” Ryan barked after me as I stormed out of the pack house, rolling my luggage behind me. I froze as I heard his words, turning, I flashed him a quick smile, he paused contemplating if what he had said was wrong. It felt good seeing him this disheveled, his ego shattered like glass against steel. I had not told Ryan my true heritage, I had buried it all behind me and thankfully he never asked. Maybe, he never cared enough to ask. He just needed a weak wolf he could use as a front to make his illegitimate kid his heir. When he saw that I was his mate, and I was not weak, he orchestrated that attack against me, scarred my beauty and made me weak. I had left home two years ago, when my father, Alpha Gavin of Moonshadow pack, had tried to force an arranged marriage on me. I came to Silvermoon pack, found out Alpha Ryan was my mate. He sweetly talked me into thinking I had found the best man in the multiverse. Damn him, for thinking I had nowhere to go. As I reached the outside of the pack house, I opened the trunk of my car and I placed my luggages in it. I was about to get in my car when Ryan rushed out, Brandon behind him. “Guards, stop her!” he ordered. I grinded my teeth when his guards rushed forward blocking my way. I faced him, his shoulders slumped, with his brows dropped. “Irene, I am concerned for you… where would you go? Just stay, I promise we can resolve whatever issue there is,” he groaned, tilting his head to the side. I stared at him blankly, with my arms crossed over my chest. Earlier, I would have melted into his arms, but now I could see through his little charade. I could see that he had wanted this separation, but it’d hurt his pride that I was the one rejecting him. “Irene, think about it carefully about-” he paused as his gaze drifted to Luna Rachel who walked in through the gate. She was a Luna of a neighbouring kingdom, who visited this pack once in a while, whenever her mate sent her on errand to Ryan. “Mummy,” Brandon cheered and raised up to her, hugging her legs. My eyes dimmed with realization. Rachel was his lover and they had Brandon together. I had my doubts, wondering why Rachel had always been the one to bring messages and not the Beta of the pack. “Shit,” Ryan cussed, he rushed up to me, lips parted as he tried to explain. I raised my hand on his face. “Don’t bother, Ryan, I will just leave.” Rachel stepped up, running her hand over Ryan’s hair as she tried to arrange it and she wiped the sweat off his forehead with her sleeves. Pathetic. I turned to enter my car. “You know, Ryan is right,” Rachel’s hitched voice ran out behind me. “You are just a weak Omega, you will never survive outside the pack. Ryan is concerned, why are you stressing him out?” I spunned. “Seeing that you care so much, why don’t you stay with him… A snake should be around its kind, right?” I shook my head, disgusted and I spat on their feets. Ryan’s eyes flashed, he shoved Rachel aside and grabbed my arm, pushing me against the car. “Snap out of your illusion, Irene. You are a weak, scarred, infertile Omega. You will die without my protection. No man would accept this,” he growled in my face. How dare he say that to my face? I pushed him back and slapped him hard across his cheeks, making his face the other side. I held Rachel’s gasp. “How dare you, Ryan. Don’t you ever touch me again,” I glared at him. He gritted his teeth and balled his fists by his side, turning to face me slowly. His eyes glazed with anger, trying to get me to chicken out, but I held his gaze, daring him to try what he wanted to do. He swallowed and nodded slowly as he stepped back, brushing the spot I’d slapped him with his hand. “Yeah, I thought as much,” I shot Rachel a look and she turned away. She had better. I balled up my hand aching from slapping Ryan, as I got inside my car. Ryan had his eyes peeled on me, he placed his hands on top of my car as he leaned closer to me. “You’ll be back, crawling, begging, and I will make you pay for this disgrace.” “F*ck you,” I replied, and I zoomed off. *** *** *** “Welcome, Ma’am,” the air hostess greeted, wearing a genuinely sweet smile, and ushered me towards my seat. “Thanks,” I replied warmly. As I settled on my seat, I sighed and closed my eyes. The long drive to the airport, queuing for my tickets, and having to wait for my flight to take off, was really much of a hassle, aside from the fact that Ryan and his lover nearly stressed my sanity out of me. I took a deep breath as I felt the flight taking off. It’s time to go home. A new beginning and I want to forget Ryan and all that happened in Silvermoon pack. The corners of my eyes stung as tears formed. I didn’t stop them, I let them flow on their free will. I knew it would be hard to forget Ryan, with this scar and mark he had put on me and my wolf, but I am willing to give it a shot, for my own peace of mind. I noticed a magazine in front of me. Its gold theme made me pick it up. “Who the fuck…” the rest of my words trailed off as I stared at the man on the face of the Magazine. Damn. He stood shirtless on the cover with his arms behind his head as he flexed his large biceps, he had his face looking sideways. I couldn't see his face, because he was looking sideways, but his jaw line was so sharp it could cut glass. I trailed my ogling eyes down his toned chest, then his eight pack abs that sparkled as though his tanned skin dripped honey, reaching way down to his well cut out Adonis belt. I gulped the moment I reached the end of the shot in the magazine. Did he have pants on? I thought, my mind going haywire and my body instantly became hot. I noticed the heading I had missed earlier. “INTERVIEW WITH THE LYCAN KING, KAIUS”. “Kaius,” I breathed.
