The car soon stopped in their underground garage.
Jessica took a deep breath, trying to steady herself and not look too pathetic. She got out, and the butler rolled the two suitcases ahead of her toward the apartment.
"I'm sorry, Zachary," she said, standing by the car.
She watched him take both of their coats out of the car, draping them over his arm while holding a nearly wilted camellia in his hand.
"Why are you apologizing? Are you getting back together with him?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.
Even with tears in her eyes, Jessica looked stunning. Her small pink nose and rosy cheeks made her look fragile and almost like a porcelain doll.
"No," she said, shaking her head.
"Good." His frown eased, and he turned toward the elevator.
Jessica hurried after him and pressed the button. She glanced up at Zachary and said, "I'm afraid he'll cause you trouble. He's really clingy."
