Aaron’s POV
Is it pathetic how quickly I wolfed down my dinner, no pun intended? Is it laughable that we arrived at the clearing in Caspian’s form before it was completely dark to maximize every minute with our mate? The old me would say yes.
But I’m not that man anymore.
Mae’s wolf emerges not long after, and I hope more desperately than I’d like to admit that it’s because they were excited to see us, too. Her wolf’s inky black fur gleams in the moonlight, the perfect opposite of Caspian’s snow-white complexion.
I think about our coloring sometimes: how stunning the stark contrast is, how well we balance each other out.
