Mae’s POV Come back over when you’re done working. Ruby’s sleepover got extended another night, and I could use some more alone time with you ;) I reread the text I sent Aaron this morning to, first, let him know Ruby was taken care of, and second, give him an excuse to come over here after his meeting with the Nefarious Nincompoops in case he needed one. As planned, the second they pulled away in their black Cadillac, I called Henry to come over. Within ten minutes, both he and Aaron were back in my dining room. “You okay?” I ask my ex-husband, whose shoulders look very tense. He nods unconvincingly. “Fine.” I want to push him a little on that, but Henry looks confused. “Are you okay?” I ask my other ex. “Yeah…” he sniffs the air, “I just can’t quite place something I’m smelling. It’s familiar, but…” He cuts himself off, eyes widening as he identifies the scent. Aaron and I both stiffen as Henry looks between us, the awkward air thickening as we realize what it is exa
