Aaron’s POV
“Aaron, wait!”
I barrel through Mae’s front door, completely ignoring the two people who are trailing behind me and cursing as they try to keep up. I reach in my pocket for my car keys, but Mae trots ahead of me and motions me toward her car instead, opening the passenger door for me.
We lock eyes, and I pray to Makah that that she knows my rage isn’t directed at her.
“I’m not trying to stop you,” she assures me. “But you shouldn’t drive in this state.”
I grunt, loading into the car begrudgingly. By the time we’re pulling out of Mae’s driveway, I realize Henry is in the back seat. I shake my leg up and down impatiently.
“What’s the plan here?” Henry asks from behind me.
“Kill Emma Ashford,” I answer.
I don’t even know where Mae is driving us, but I trust her. Behind me, I can feel Henry’s hesitation.
“Uh… Mae?” he says. She doesn’t respond, hands grasping the wheel as she turns onto another street, eyes focused on the road. “Are you condoning the murd
