Chapter 13
Althea stared at the room Kaden had brought her to, her fingers twisting nervously in the hem of her sleeve. It wasn’t just a room,it was massive, more like a suite. The walls were painted in soft, neutral tones, and a large bed sat at the center with heavy blankets that looked impossibly soft. A crackling fireplace cast a warm glow, making everything feel inviting.
And yet, she felt entirely out of place.
She hovered awkwardly by the door, her pulse hammering in her ears as Kaden stood beside her, watching her reaction. His presence filled the room, as if even the space bowed to him.
“You don’t have to stand there,” Kaden said softly, his silver eyes catching the firelight. “This is your room now.”
Althea blinked at him, struggling to process his words. “My… room?” she repeated, her voice faint.
“For as long as you want it,” Kaden replied, his tone calm but firm.
Althea shook her head, her hands clutching the fabric of her skirt. “I don’t think I should be here.”
