Chapter 5 Assistance

Aaron had shown up at the office at some point. He had witnessed everything Tia did just now. Tia broke out in a cold sweat, forcing herself to meet Aaron’s gaze. “I was just organizing some documents, Mr. Aaron.” “Is that so?” Aaron smirked slightly, calmly looking at Tia. “Yes.” Tia tried to appear composed. “I’ve also finished organizing the files you asked me to.” Aaron leisurely sat down in his office chair, casually flipping through the documents Tia had placed on the desk. He then unhesitatingly threw them into the trash can. Tia was rendered speechless. “You may leave now,” Aaron ordered ruthlessly. Tia looked at the discarded documents in the trash can, her hatred for Aaron deepening. She then turned and left. “Just remember, you can’t hide anything under my nose.” Aaron’s voice echoed from behind. Tia left the company while feeling anxious. She quickly called Sorian. However, the call went unanswered. “What’s going on?” Tia was filled with anxiety, a strong sense of unease surrounding her. Could it be that Aaron had figured something out? He had clearly been trying to make things difficult for her on her first day at work. If he was not satisfied with her, why did he choose her out of all the interviewees? Tia could not figure it out and had to console herself, saying that it was just her imagination. Work went smoothly for the next few days. Despite Aaron’s eccentric personality, he had a very strong work ethic. He acted decisively and had an exceptionally high level of vigilance. Tia never had the chance to secretly search for any documents that could incriminate her father. “This afternoon, we have a business negotiation with Austry. Prepare all the meeting materials in advance,” Aaron ordered Tia while sealing the documents with an expressionless face. “Of course.” Tia nodded and began preparing on her computer. When the time came for the afternoon meeting, Tia delivered the documents to the conference room and happened to notice a red folder on the table. Her instincts told her that there might be something hidden inside. Learning from her previous lesson, Tia did not immediately open the folder but secretly slid it under the sofa. After the meeting, Aaron received a private phone call and quickly made some arrangements before leaving the company. Meanwhile, Tia rushed back to Aaron’s office. She discreetly retrieved the folder and only dared to open it at home. Inside, she found detailed investigations on all the companies, assets, employees, business partners, and supply chains related to Morsen Group. Morsen Group was the largest company that was owned by Tia’s father. Aaron was indeed the mastermind behind it all. Back when her father’s well-run companies faced crisis and many teetered on the brink of bankruptcy, Aaron was the one responsible for it all. He aimed to take away the companies her father had painstakingly built and then plotted to kill him... He even colluded with Vick and Angelica to send her to prison and make her die quietly in jail... It was all Aaron Caius’ doing! Fortunately, it was not too late, and she could still put a stop to all of this. Just at that moment, the phone rang, and Tia glanced at it. It was Thalmor, her father’s most trusted aide. “Tia?” A slightly aged voice came from the other end of the line. “Uncle Thalmor, it’s Tia.” “I heard from your father that you’ve been released.” “Yes.” Tia paused, looking at the documents in her hand. “You’re finally back. The Celeste family might still have hope…” “Uncle Thalmor?” Tia realized something. “You…” “Do you have time tomorrow afternoon? Let’s meet up,” he interrupted Tia. “At the old cafe on Saint Derr Road. I have something very important to discuss with you.” Tia was a little distracted when she went to work the next day. “This is the third mistake you’ve made today.” Aaron slammed some documents onto the desk, glaring disapprovingly at Tia. Tia felt guilty. “It was my oversight. I apologize, Mr. Aaron.” “Don’t bring your personal emotions into your work. No one will bear the consequences for you. You have to take responsibility for your own actions.” “I understand. I’m truly sorry.” Tia lowered her head. “You may leave.” Tia nodded apologetically and left the room. As Aaron watched Tia’s departing figure, his expression became somewhat sinister. Things were indeed going as he had anticipated. He did not even need to put much effort into making Tia stumble and fall into his trap. When the time was right, she would become his very own 'prisoner'. In the afternoon, Tia went to the cafe as planned. She saw Thalmor, whom she had not seen in a long time. “Tia.” Thalmor’s eyes welled up with tears as soon as he saw her. “Seven years ago, I was abroad when I heard the news of your imprisonment. I had intended to return home, but there were issues with my passport, and I couldn’t make it in time. I’m truly sorry.” Tia smiled and shook her head. “Uncle Thalmor, please don’t blame yourself. None of it was your fault. It was the doing of all those malicious people.” Thalmor pulled a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe away his tears, and the two of them sat down. “I know all the inside information about your father’s situation. I’ve come back this time to help you regain control of the family’s assets.” Tia suddenly felt a surge of strength. “If you can help me, Uncle Thalmor, that would be wonderful.” Thalmor wore a loving smile. “Now’s a crucial time. We must be cautious, especially since our adversary is Aaron Caius. He’s already taken action, and we can’t afford to lag behind.” “I’ve applied to be Aaron’s secretary now. This might give me a chance to gather information from the inside.” “Good. As long as you’re on the inside, leave the rest to me,” Thalmor said sincerely. Tia sighed with relief. “Thank you, Uncle Thalmor.” “Don’t mention it. If it weren’t for your father's support back in the day, I wouldn’t have achieved what I did. Now, your father needs my help, so I should step up.” Tia nodded gratefully. It seemed that fate was smiling upon her, granting her a significant opportunity. It would only be a matter of time before she turned the tide in her favor.
