Chapter 257
LIAM’S POV
I stood at the window, looking outside to distract myself. The pain in my chest was still there and something told me it would never go away till Natalie was safe.
Every second without Natalie was a second too long. My chest throbbed with the mate bond. Right now, the bond felt so sharp. It felt like barbed wire wrapped around my heart. Jason snarled and paced inside me.
I flinched when Chloe’s hand touched my shoulder.
“Don’t fight me,” she murmured. Her voice was calm. “Let me help dull it.”
Her other hand came to rest against my chest, right over the ache and she started to cast a spell. The spell started as a hum. It was low.
I closed my eyes and focused.
A golden light glowed between us. I could feel it going into my skin. The pain didn’t vanish. It never would but it dulled. It faded into something I could at least stand upright with.
I exhaled hard. “Thank you,” I muttered.
