MEMPHIS’ POV
Alistair’s body sagged. His knees hit the broken stone so hard I could hear his bones crack.
His blood spread under him. His magic kept flickering out. It looked like a candle that was about to die out.
He looked so pathetic and weak.
The sight made me feel satisfied. I would always be the stronger one, no matter what. I had invested so much to make sure of that.
I stood over him. My chest heaved as I breathed heavily. I could feel the dark power coursing through my veins. The forbidden magic burned. It kept pulling at me and spreading through my veins. Oh…how sweet the taste of victory was.
“Pathetic,” I murmured, staring down at the brother who had dared defy me.
Alistair lifted his head weakly. His eyes still burned with that damned stubbornness. “You’ve lost… everything that made you human, Memphis.”
I laughed. The sound was loud. It echoed against the broken walls.
