ELIZA’S POV
The battlefield still reeked of blood and sweat. My body ached.
My muscles screamed from the strain of combat, but the rush of adrenaline still coursed through my veins.
The cold was supposed to hurt my skin, but I barely felt it. Not when I saw him.
Alexander.
He walked toward me slowly. His breathing was heavy from the fight.
His dark hair was damp, filled with sweat and dirt.
Yet, even covered in grime, he looked as breathtaking as ever. My heart clenched at the sight of him.
A slow smile spread across his lips as he stopped in front of me.
Without hesitation, he reached out and rested his forehead against mine.
“You fought beautifully,” he murmured “I’m proud of you, Eliza.”
A warmth spread through my chest at his words. I met his gaze with a smile “You didn’t do too bad yourself.”
He chuckled “Flattery will get you everywhere, you know.”
