"Sir, there’s news from the old man."
The little riverside house had a platform built out by the bank, fenced in where flowers should’ve been. Someone had turned that patch into a fishing deck.
The makeshift wooden deck, paired with the giant sunshade and a few comfy chairs, made the crisp autumn day feel downright perfect.
Standing by Hanson Bentley’s side, Nigel Bentley held up a tablet, notifications popping up one after another.
Hanson lazily rested his fishing rod in its holder and took the tablet. "How’s that woman doing?"
His tone was casual, almost detached, but as he started reading, his easygoing look stiffened, and the amusement in his fox-like eyes slowly faded.
