Chapter 845 Rejection
Zachary’s gaze had always been the coldest thing she had ever seen, but right now, there was a prevailing gentleness in those icy eyes.
She didn’t know that a stone-hearted man like him was capable of such gentleness. She was so captivated by him that she wanted to just let go of everything and go away with him.
“Leave Garrison, be my wife. I assure you I will take great care of you.” Zachary was the most regal man in Rothesay, yet his hand was shaking now.
“Carlie, promise me! Okay!?”
Sotiria’s brows twitched.
Sotiria was snapped back to reality the moment she heard the name “Carlie”. It was as if a bucket of water was poured down on her head.
“Carlie! Hah! Just as I said, you really treat me as your Carlie!”
Sotiria mustered up every ounce of strength from her body and flung Zachary’s hands away. Her eyes were filled with pain, but there was a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
“It seems to me that you’re not all there, Mr. Connor. Then let me clear your head. Look closely, Mr. Connor! I’m Sotiria Green. I’m not your dead wife, Charlotte Simmons! I’m who I am. Even if I have a horrible past, I will never bring myself to be someone else’s replacement!”
Sotiria walked away after rejecting Zachary.
Zachary, who could have easily stopped her, was now cemented in place, and a pang of pain that felt like a knife cut raged through his heart.
Charlotte was dead! His wife was dead!
Even though this was the reality, he still could not accept it after four years had passed. Once someone mentioned her in front of him, the wound in his heart that had never healed seemed to be torn open again.
He stared fixedly at Sotiria’s back. She looked even more like Charlotte this way.
Zachary, who was as tough as a king, pushed the pain back to the depth of his stomach pit and opened his thin lips again.
“As long as you marry me, other than love, I can give you everything. I will cherish you and Naomi with all my heart.”
“That’s not necessary.”
Sotiria stopped walking forward, but she did not turn her head back. Instead, she lifted her head triumphantly and said, “Garrison loves me to the bone. You said you could give me everything I want, but he’s capable of doing the same as well. However, there’s one thing that he can give me but you can’t—that’s love. So why should I let go of such a great husband and go with you just to humiliate myself? Do I look like a masochist to you?”
Zachary’s perfectly shaped lips curled upward.
Charlotte’s proud and unyielding character was the reason he was attracted to her, and now, Sotiria’s personality was so similar to Charlotte’s—it was as if she had Charlotte’s soul!
“Also, Mr. Connor, a piece of advice from me. I can feel that you love Ms. Simmons very deeply, but clinging to her will only make you live a very painful life since she has already gone to another world. Everyone is one of a kind and irreplaceable. Even if I look a lot like her to you, I can never replace her. You should let her go and start a new relationship.”
As she was talking, she suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, by the way, don’t you have a fiancée? Her name is Ms. Larson, right? She is so beautiful and kind. I feel that the only person who can be worthy of you is a good woman like her, so why don’t you just settle down with her?”
Zachary parted his light brown lips, but he did not say anything.
Sotiria started to walk ahead in flustered steps. Her heart was still pounding fast in her chest.
