Chapter 846 Body-Swap?
Sotiria’s heart had never stirred so much for any man before.
She was a woman who valued her relationships.
Garrison may have slowly entered her heart over the past few years, but she did not love him. The only reason she had agreed to marry him was mainly out of gratitude toward him for taking care of her and Naomi over the past few years.
She had no idea what was wrong with her.
She did not know if her innate “amorous nature” or “flirtatiousness” was behind all of this.
Sotiria was now engaged to Garrison. She shouldn’t be harboring any intentions toward any other man at all.
However, if Zachary had told her that he loved her when he proposed to her, she believed that she would have disregarded everything else and agreed to marry him! Then, she would find some other way to repay Garrison.
She knew that this wasn’t right!
However, ever since she had met Zachary, her feelings for him had been overwhelming her like a turbulent, uncontrollable tsunami. They had surpassed the boundaries of her rational control and gave her the urge to give herself to him!
Nevertheless, she was simply living in a fantasy.
Zachary had only asked her to marry him because she resembled Charlotte Simmons to him!
He could never love her!
Charlotte Simmons…
She had felt a strange sense of familiarity when she heard the name at first. Now, every time she thought of the name, she would feel as if a hole had been carved into her heart. She felt a strange, intense agony.
She even felt a little envious of the woman who had that name.
“Sir, I think I’m suddenly starting to understand why you like her so much.” Lucas silently walked toward Zachary’s right and looked toward Sotiria’s slowly disappearing figure in the distance. “At first, I thought that she was filthy, messy, and unbearable too. But when I saw how she dealt with Melanie, I couldn’t help being reminded of Mrs. Connor. Mrs. Connor was always merciless to her enemies, but she drew a clear line between kindness and grievance. Her heart was always kind.”
Zachary’s dark, inky eyes flashed with a weird glint.
Lucas continued. “Did you know, sir? According to my data, Sotiria was not like this in the past. However, ever since she survived that accident four years ago, it’s as if she has turned into a completely different person. It’s no wonder Garrison’s fallen for her. Now, hehe… I kinda like her too.”
Zachary’s gaze darkened.
“You really don’t have the right to like her.”
“Uh, of course! Of course! How could I possibly harbor improper ambitions toward the woman you like… Hehehehe…” Lucas chuckled. “Sir, have you heard of body-swapping?”
“Hmm?” The handsome, godlike Zachary’s eyes never left Sotiria’s figure for a single moment.
“It’s like this. There’s a legend in some parts of the world that when someone is mortally wounded and is saved, the soul will turn into the soul of the next person who was involved in the same accident at the same time, even though the physical body isn’t their own—”
“I’m not so ignorant that I haven’t heard of such a legend.” Zachary calmly cut Lucas off. “Get to the point!”
“Oh!” Lucas fiddled with his large earring. “Four years ago, Sotiria and Mrs. Connor had an accident at the same time. Mrs. Connor died on the spot, and Sotiria became a completely different person after surviving the accident. I’m wondering if Mrs. Connor’s soul was transferred to her body?”
At that moment, Zachary’s cold, hard, and expressionless heart felt a pang of agony. His usually cold and icy face displayed a small crack.
At least three seconds later, he finally opened his thin lips and said, “No way!”
He, who held a firm belief in science and had made his fortune through high technology, would not go that far to believe in such nonsensical superstition.
He really hoped that whatever Lucas had said was true. However, Charlotte was Charlotte, and Sotiria was Sotiria. Regardless of how much Sotiria resembled Charlotte, she could never be Charlotte.
“Sigh, I was just making up a random theory. I know that strange things have happened in this world, but the chances of anything like that happening are pretty much zero. But, sir…” Lucas peeked at Zachary’s handsome face, which was shrouded in gloom.
