KNOX'S POV
"She's innocent."
Lena's words hung in the air between us, freezing me in place. The cottage suddenly felt too small, the air too thick to breathe.
"What did you say?" My voice came out as a whisper, barely audible even to my own enhanced hearing.
Lena gestured for me to sit back down, her eyes filled with a deep sadness that made my wolf bristle with unease. Noah and Logan hovered in the doorway, clearly torn between staying and giving us privacy. With a slight nod from me, they reluctantly stepped outside, closing the door behind them.
"Aubrey is innocent," Lena repeated, her voice stronger now. She moved to a cluttered bookshelf and pulled down an ancient, leather-bound tome. The book looked old, its pages yellowed and edges crumbling with age. "It took me weeks of research to understand what I was seeing in my visions."
