Chapter 24
Just then, the lights came on.
When Margot saw Cameron's haggard, bruised face, she still jumped in shock. "Cameron, what the hell do you want?"
Cameron saw the wariness and caution in Margot's eyes, and disbelief flashed across his face. "Margot, are you afraid of me?"
Margot tried to push him away, but Cameron held her tightly in his arms. She couldn't move at all.
Margot said, "Cameron, there's nothing between us anymore. What you're doing right now is threatening my safety."
Cameron's hands froze. He stared at Margot in disbelief. "You're saying I'm threatening you? Margot, you're my wife. We're family!"
Margot bit down hard on Cameron's hand in disgust, trying to break free from his grip. "Cameron, we're already divorced. We can never go back to how things were."
A sharp pain shot through the back of Cameron's hand, but he endured it as though he felt nothing. He held Margot tightly in his arms, refusing to let go even slightly.
