Chapter 25

Nathaniel drove Margot home, and the two remained silent throughout the ride. She stared out at the night, memories she'd buried away flooding back. All her thoughts tangled together like knotted thread. Suddenly, a hand gently covered hers, and she snapped back to reality with a start. "Don't overthink it. I'll have people protecting you for the next few days. Cameron won't dare do anything to you," Nathaniel said. Margot nodded. "He and I can never go back to how things were. I just never expected him to turn into this." When she got home, Margot was about to rest when everything suddenly went dark. The power had gone out. Alone in the darkness, Margot felt panic rising. She was about to call Nathaniel when a pair of hands suddenly grabbed her waist. "Margot, I've got you!" Before Margot could react, Cameron pressed a wet cloth over her mouth. Then, everything went black. … When she opened her eyes again, Margot was back in the house that had trapped her for five years.
