Evelyn's POV
Sunday afternoons should be peaceful. I’d planned to spend it with my children, watching Rowan and Rhys build their LEGO castle while Alexis napped. But my phone had other ideas.
When Grant's name flashed on my screen, I knew my relaxing Sunday was over. I stepped onto the patio to take the call.
"Alpha Calvin wants to meet," Grant said. He was my lawyer for the custody case, so his calls were never just to say hello.
I tensed. "When?"
"Tonight. Seven."
The timing was weird. Why after hours? "Where?"
"Conference room. Wolfe Haven International."
I hesitated. After everything—the kidnapping, the poison, my research—the custody battle had been pushed aside. Now Calvin wanted to bring it up again?
"Fine," I said. "I'll be there."
I ended the call and stared at the garden. Something felt off. Calvin had been acting strange lately—too close, too attentive. I didn't want to waste any more energy on him.
