Chapter 28
Evelyn's POV
I had barely pulled open the study door when I felt something heavy against my foot. The next moment, three bodies tumbled through the doorway.
Both Calvin and I immediately looked down at our children. Our voices overlapped as we called their names.
"Rowan Wolfe, Rhys Wolfe," Calvin's deep voice rumbled.
"Alexis Blackwell," I said at the same time.
The children exchanged glances, scrambling to their feet with the instinctive fear that comes when parents use full names.
They looked everywhere but at us.
Little Alexis broke the tension first, tugging at my pant leg and looking up with big innocent eyes. "Mommy, want some candy?"
Her brothers straightened their posture before Calvin, offering sheepish smiles. "Dad, we're all packed up."
Calvin and I exchanged a glance, momentarily united in our exasperation.
