Katelyn’s POV After the news broadcast, the whole building felt tense. I could sense it everywhere from in the stiff posture of the interns, the urgent whispers from the editors, the way even the janitor slowed to watch the TV screens in the hall. The story I’d broken about Xavier, the richest man hung in the air like a storm cloud waiting to break. I tried to distract myself by gathering my notes and checking the broadcast monitor. The newsroom’s main TV was turned to our station, the ticker tape replaying my headline: “Breaking: Xavier Group Confirms Tragedy.” A dozen heads were bent toward their screens, eyes flickering with a mix of fear and excitement.
