Chapter 209 Letting Go
Katelyn‘s POV
The café was warm and smelled faintly of roasted coffee beans and alcohol from the small bar in the corner.
I sat in a booth by the window, my coat draped over the seat beside me.
Outside, people hurried past on the sidewalk, the streetlights already flickering on though it was still early evening.
Rachel slid into the seat across from me, unwrapping a scarf from around her neck. “You sounded stressed on the phone,” she said. “What’s going on?”
I wrapped my hands around the cold glass in front of me. The ice had already melted halfway into the drink. “It’s about Ethan,” I said. “Tomorrow is supposed to be the day we go to court to get married again.”
Her eyebrows lifted slightly. “And?”
“And I don’t want to,” I admitted.
Rachel leaned forward a little. “I thought you were set on this.”
“I was. Or I thought I was. But the closer it gets, the more I keep thinking about the past. When we were married before.”
