The shareholder vote dragged on for days. Each morning began the same with Allen glued to his phone, scanning every message that came in, his brows furrowed so tightly it seemed they might never relax. His tension spread to everyone near him.
Fallon couldn’t sit still. She paced between the window and the desk, her heels clicking against the floor, muttering half-thoughts about strategies and betrayals.
Every so often she’d stop, grip the edge of the desk, then resume pacing, her restlessness filling the room like static.
