Chapter 69 Mixed Signals
Ethan’s POV
I stormed into the house, my footsteps echoing across the marble floor as if daring anyone to speak. I didn’t wait for a greeting, didn’t glance at the butler standing stiffly near the stairs. My pulse was still hammering in my ears, my jaw locked tight from everything that had just happened.
Then I saw them.
Katelyn’s slippers.
Still neatly placed near the door. Still soft. Still hers.
In my angry state, I didn’t want them there, didn’t want any trace of her in my space, not when she had walked away so easily. Not when she had let another man hold her in his arms while I stood there, watching like a fool.
“Throw these out,” I barked, pointing at them without looking back. My voice was sharp. Cold. A command more than a request.
The servant hesitated. “Sir, are you”
“Did I stutter?”
They disappeared without another word, and I turned toward my study.
